Meditation: A Family Affair with Miranda Kerr and Her Kids
In a recent interview, supermodel Miranda Kerr opened up about her unique family routine, which involves meditating with her children. But here's where it gets controversial: Kerr's approach to meditation is tailored to each child's age, sparking debates about the right age to introduce such practices.
Kerr, a 42-year-old Australian beauty, practices Vedic rounding, a technique blending yoga and breathing exercises. She teaches this to her brood, including sons Flynn (15), Hart (7), Myles (6), and Pierre (2).
"Each of my kids, except the baby, has their own mantra and meditation practice," Kerr shared with LYMA's Power Women series. "It's a part of my daily devotion and connection."
And this is the part most people miss: Kerr's meditation routine is adapted for her children's ages. Her six-year-old meditates for six minutes, while the seven-year-old does it for seven minutes, and so on.
"My eldest, Flynn, recently said he wanted to meditate with me every morning at 6 a.m. for 20 minutes," Kerr revealed. "He noticed a difference in his calmness on the days he meditated."
Kerr's early-rising habit, which she attributes to her husband, Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel, also plays a role in her family's routine. She wakes up between 5 and 5:30 a.m. and prepares the house for an early bedtime for the kids.
"I put on relaxing music and dim the lights at 5 p.m. to help my kids wind down," she explained. "The kids and I eat at 4:30 p.m., a little earlier than usual, and then I get into bed with my relaxation mats and laser device."
So, what do you think? Is Kerr's approach to meditation with her children a brilliant way to instill mindfulness early on, or is it too much too soon? Share your thoughts in the comments; we'd love to hear your opinions on this unique family practice!
