Vivek Raman, co-founder of the Ethereum-focused firm Etherealize, boldly declares, “It’s now... the long-anticipated mass adoption moment is finally here.” He points to the influx of Wall Street giants into the Ethereum ecosystem as a major indicator, predicting ETH will become the “default asset” of a traditional economy increasingly moving on-chain.
The key driver? Tokenization. As James Smith, head of ecosystem at the Ethereum Foundation, explains, “Tokenizing a Treasury bill was 2024. Making it work inside DeFi is 2026.” The future, he believes, lies in tokenized assets that generate yield or serve as collateral within decentralized finance (DeFi) applications. This shift could unlock billions in new capital, fueling Ethereum's growth and potentially propelling ETH towards store-of-value status, though still trailing Bitcoin's trajectory.
Will Ethereum ever catch up to Bitcoin? Raman thinks so, but admits it's a long road: “ETH is going to elevate to becoming a store of value alongside Bitcoin, but it's basically five years behind Bitcoin’s inflection point.”
